A Biocompatible Framework
Sculptra is made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA-SCA), a biocompatible material that works beneath the skin. Rather than simply placing a gel into a line, its microparticles create a temporary framework within the treated tissue.

As the PLLA-SCA microparticles are gradually absorbed, they help stimulate your body’s natural collagen production—the protein responsible for skin structure, firmness, and support.

Treat, Wait, Assess

What to Expect
Before Treatment

- Baseline photography and personalized series planning
- Discuss medications or supplements that may increase bruising—never stop prescribed medicine without the prescribing clinician’s approval
- Arrive with clean skin when possible
During Treatment
- Treatment areas are cleansed, assessed, and carefully marked
- Comfort measures may be used according to your plan
- Sculptra is placed by a trained medical injector using technique selected for the treatment area
- You may feel pressure, pinching, or mild stinging
- The appointment typically takes 30–60 minutes
After Treatment
- Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, bruising, or fullness may occur
- Use a cloth-wrapped cold pack as directed; never place ice directly on skin
- Follow the 5-5-5 massage rule unless your injector advises otherwise
- Avoid excessive sun, UV exposure, and extreme temperatures until redness and swelling resolve
- Keep follow-up visits so your injector can treat, wait, and reassess

Sculptra® (injectable poly-L-lactic acid) is indicated for use in people with healthy immune systems for correction of shallow-to-deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies, fine lines and wrinkles in the cheek region, and other facial wrinkles. Sculptra should not be used in people with an allergy to any ingredient or a history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring. Safety has not been established during pregnancy, lactation, breastfeeding, or in patients under 18.
Common side effects include injection-site swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, bruising, bleeding, itching, and lumps. Rare but serious complications can occur, including vascular occlusion. Sculptra has unique injection requirements and should only be administered by a trained healthcare practitioner. Individual results and treatment regimens vary. Sculptra is not reversible with hyaluronidase. A consultation is required to determine candidacy, treatment areas, number of sessions, and total cost.
