We’ve always been told to drink eight glasses of water a day. While oral hydration is essential, it has significant limitations. Absorption takes 1-2 hours, you can only absorb about 1 liter per hour through digestion, and plain water dilutes electrolytes.
When you need it most, oral hydration works least. If you’re dehydrated, hungover, or recovering from illness, your digestive system is compromised. Nausea or poor gut function can prevent adequate oral rehydration exactly when you need it most.
IV hydration bypasses every limitation: immediate availability (fluids enter your bloodstream within minutes), complete absorption (100% of IV fluid reaches your bloodstream), balanced electrolytes (isotonic saline matches your body’s composition), and it works regardless of gut function.
IV therapy is administered by licensed medical professionals. While generally very safe, IV therapy carries risks including bruising at injection site, vein inflammation (phlebitis), infection (rare with proper technique), and allergic reactions (rare).
Basic Hydration IV is a wellness service, not a medical treatment. It does not treat, cure, or diagnose any medical condition. Those with serious medical conditions should consult their physician before receiving IV therapy.
IV hydration is not a substitute for medical treatment of severe dehydration, which may require hospital care. If you are experiencing severe symptoms, seek emergency medical attention.
Certain medical conditions, particularly heart and kidney disease, may contraindicate IV fluid administration. A health screening is conducted before treatment to ensure safety.
Individual results vary. The effects of IV hydration depend on your baseline hydration status, overall health, and individual physiology.
Pregnant women should consult their healthcare provider before receiving IV therapy.
